Schedule, Criteria, and Application Process
Schedule
The 2025 EnGen Cohort will begin the program in December 2024 and graduate in October 2025. The schedule will consist of the following components:
A 2-hour virtual welcome for the new cohort is scheduled for Thursday, December 12, 2024⋅10:00am – 12:00pm MT.
Quarterly in-person two-day educational seminars throughout the US, including in-depth conversations with industry leaders, group activities, field tours, community engagement activities, and social events. Participants are expected to arrive the night before the first day of the seminar unless they are local. The second day will end early afternoon to allow travel home for the weekend. The scheduled dates include:
January 16-17, 2025 in Denver, CO
April 24-25, 2025 in Stanford, CA
July 10-11, 2025 in Washington, DC
October 16-17, 2025 in Houston, TX
Monthly virtual half-day programs including programming, reading discussions, and social networking will be held on a Thursday morning from 8:00am-12:00pm MT on each of the following dates:
January 9, 2025
February 20, 2025
March 20, 2025
May 15, 2025
June 12, 2025
August 14, 2025
September 18, 2025
Graduation celebration will be held on October 16, 2025 in Houston, TX.
Requirements
To ensure participants’ valuable time is used productively, cohort members are required to:
Complete the EnGen program, participants must attend all in-person seminars and 80% of virtual EnGen days. Additionally, you are required to attend the graduation and gala in Houston, TX in October 2025;
Maintain the full confidentiality of all speakers and fellow EnGen class members;
Avoid using cell phone or laptops except during scheduled breaks to give full attention to schedule activities; and
Provide written support for participation by their direct supervisor (if applicable).
Program Costs
The Energy Leadership Institute is structured to ensure the EnGen program is accessible to a wide range of candidates. The cost of the program is $2,000.00 per person and includes 2 nights of lodging, all meals, and other program expenses during in-person seminars. Cohort members are responsible for travel to and from the location of quarterly seminars. Scholarships or payment plans for program fees and travel will be considered upon request on a case-by-case basis.
Selection Process & Criteria
All applications are to be submitted through the online form by September 30, 2024. Following the application period, virtual interviews will be scheduled for October 2024. The cohort will be announced in November 2024 to allow candidates to schedule travel for the January 2025 seminar in Denver.
Final selected candidates will possess the following attributes:
Minimum of eight years energy sector experience
Someone who is serving as, and has been identified as, a leader within the energy industry.
Interest in a long-term career in energy and a future role as an executive leader
Passionate about solving the complexities of the energy ecosystem, including climate change, energy justice, and energy access
Demonstrable commitment to and engagement within the industry and their community
Candidates will be tenacious, resourceful, open-minded, innovative, and adaptable
Display authenticity, self-awareness, honesty, and integrity
Values diversity, equity, inclusion, and difference of thought
Can commit to engaging in the program over 10 months and meeting the program requirements
Can provide written support for their participation by their direct supervisor (if applicable).
