Our Mission & Vision

The mission of the Energy Leadership Institute is to develop and engage leaders from all sectors of the energy industry through informed dialogue, intentional programming, proactive engagement, and community support.

We envision a future where the complex challenges of the energy industry are met by thoughtful, connected, and solution-oriented leaders, working together to solve society’s most pressing energy-related issues.

Our Climate Commitment

The Energy Leadership Institute is committed to supporting a clean energy future that will be net zero emitting by 2050. We look to foster and train the energy leaders of the future who will drive innovation, technological advancements, and effective collaboration to help society achieve this goal.

Our History

The Energy Generation (EnGen) Leadership Program was initially established by the Colorado Oil & Gas Association (COGA) in 2012. Over an incredibly successful decade, the program graduated over 250 alumni and gained national recognition as the industry’s premier leadership development program. In 2021, four alumni and leaders of EnGen identified the need for a similar program on a national level, fully encompassing the entire energy ecosystem. Their shared belief is that to effectively solve for climate change and other energy challenges, all sectors need to collaborate, engage in solution-oriented dialogue, and ultimately build trust. The goal of the next iteration of EnGen is to foster a cohort dedicated to building not only the context and skills needed to drive the energy solutions we need, but also the leadership presence and relationships that will be required. The program will be managed by the Energy Leadership Institute, a new entity established in 2021 to provide leadership development, mentorship, and thought leadership opportunities across the energy value chain.
