Sheri Givens
Sheri’s professional experience includes over twenty years in legal, regulatory, legislative, and external affairs. Since 2018, she has led US policy and regulatory strategy for National Grid across Massachusetts and Rhode Island supporting the company’s vision for an equitable and affordable clean energy transition, along with its net zero plan and progress reporting, policy and regulatory filings, customer offerings, legislative advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and future of heat strategy. National Grid is a clean energy company serving the electric and heating needs of over 20 million customers in the Northeastern U.S. Prior to joining the company, she led an independent energy consulting practice for five years.
She is a native Texan who previously served over 10 years as an attorney in Texas state government, including representing the state’s 20 million residential and small business utility customers before the utility commission, legislature, and courts as the Governor-appointed utility consumer advocate for the Office of Public Utility Counsel. In that role, she served on both the Electric Reliability Council of Texas and Texas Reliability Entity Boards of Directors as well as the National Association of State Utility Consumer Advocate’s Executive Committee. Her public service career also included working as a senior advising attorney at the Public Utility Commission of Texas, assistant general counsel at the Texas Workforce Commission, and various roles in the Texas Legislature.
Sheri holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in government from the University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor in Law from the University of Houston Law Center. She currently serves on the U.S. Department of Energy’s Electricity Advisory Committee, Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships Board of Directors, Boston Green Ribbon Commission, Association of Women in Energy Board of Directors, and Utilities United Against Scams Executive Committee, along with several other trade association and academic committees.
