Johanna Ostrum, Marketing and Communications Co-Chair

Johanna Ostrum is the Chief Operating Officer of Transitional Energy, a startup geothermal energy company looking to bring geothermal technology to the oil and gas industry. Johanna is responsible for business development, policy, regulatory planning, as well as coordinating operations.

Prior to joining Transitional Energy, Johanna spent 14 years in the oil and gas industry in a wide variety of positions and basins. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Geological Engineering from Montana Technological University. Johanna’s most recent role was Regulatory Manager at Extraction Oil & Gas which allowed her to build critical relationships and be the point contact communicating to local counties, municipalities, and state agencies. She also participated in rulemakings in several cities and counties across the front range in Colorado. Johanna began her career as a development geologist in reservoirs in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. She later transitioned to a production engineer, where her focus was on enhancing production from the Codell and Niobrara formations in Colorado. Johanna also spent several years working in the Bakken as a Reservoir and Reserves Engineer. Her prior companies include Noble Energy, SM Energy, and Extraction Oil & Gas. She currently volunteers her time at Energize Colorado and as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Task Force Chair at Geothermal Rising.
