Katerina Yared, Alumni Engagement Co-Chair
Katerina Yared is an Energy Science and Sustainability Professional working in Denver. She started her oil and gas industry career as a field engineer focusing on formation evaluation with Baker Hughes after she received her master’s degree in geology from the RWTH Aachen University in Aachen, Germany. She advanced through various roles at Baker Hughes, ranging from applications engineer to geoscience manager. Katerina broadened her experience by working for NEOS GeoSolutions and later at Apache Corporation, QEP Resources and SM Energy and moved into the new energies sector consulting for companies like Devon Energy in their New Ventures team.
Embarking on a new learning journey Katerina enrolled in a sustainability management master’s program at the University of Wisconsin and graduated in the summer of 2023. She is eager about contributing to the energy transfer movement to provide a sustainable future for generations to come bending the boundaries between what is achievable and what is imaginable. Katerina is a certified Professional Geologist in the State of Texas and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute (PMI). Her enthusiasm lies in actively driving progress in the realm of future energy developments and forming connections between the energy sector and the worldwide call for sustainable solutions.
Katerina is the 63rd president of the international Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA). She is also the co-chair of the Women’s Network of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPGWN) and a lifetime member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and American Rock Mechanics Association (ARMA). Katerina has showcased remarkable leadership through her extensive involvement in various technical non-profit societies. She has taken on pivotal roles as the co-chair of numerous prestigious technical conferences dedicated to unconventional reservoir technology, carbon capture, and geothermal energy. Her ability to lead and drive these programs reflects her dedication to advancing these critical fields and underscores her influence within these technical communities.
Finally, she is the co-CEO of the Yared household enjoying raising three kids in beautiful Colorado. With a family to raise consisting of three young boys, life is never boring, but she also believes the foundation of one’s belief systems forms at an early age and she is determined to broaden social perspectives of social awareness towards various groups to ultimately increase the success of all people at work and in life.
